It needs to be fine sand, clear of stones and twigs, most beaches are good but you need to have high quality fine mason sand to pull these off.

These are my buddies from Turks and Caicos.. They helped me with the pound up. What you see in this picture is day one of the build and usually the hardest physical day as well.. It will take another 5 days to complete the project and some of these guys help with that too. We will need a crew like this when we come to your resort as well.

On the beach we can also build with no forms at all. We just hand pack the sand up as high and wide as we can go, then carve it out. This makes for a lower but wider castle, which can also be very effective because of the structures overall size. We still need helpers for this, a small crew to assist as needed.

Once we have a good solid mound we start to carve. This is the fun part where we chisel out a 14th century medieval city from the mound of sand. This is Scott above working on a 2016 sandcastle at Art on the Green in Coeur D Alene Idaho.. This will take about 4 or 5 days to complete. Terri follows in the process with intricate detail and her amazing trees that always seem to please the crowd.

To make them last we spray the castle once a section is complete with a solution of Elmers glue and water. It's just a mist but it hardens the outside layer and seals the water in. Out doors but under a canopy they can last months, out in the open air on the beach with sun and wind, a week or so at most... you choose what you want. Note that the Sandals castles you see on this site were built right on the beach. They supplied a large canopy to cover the castle to help protect it from rain and sun.

Day one is the pound up.. if we need to build wood forms then that takes a few hours and should be done the day before the pound up. To facilitate this we need a small crew that the resort client would make available during those first days. The the next 5 days we sculpt and carve it all out. If we can have a couple of helpers from your crew during that time that would be great. The last day we complete the castle, we include logo's as well.

Here we are in front of one of our Beaches Resort Sandcastles in Turks and Caicos. We had one hell of a time with this one. The mound collapsed on us the second day leaving us buried in a pile of sand and wood. Then the rains came, and boy can it rain in the Caribbean. Then after all that the castle got attacked by a group of feral cats.

The mound collapsed on us the second day leaving us buried in a pile of sand and wood. Then the rains came, and boy can it rain in the Caribbean. Then after all that the castle got attacked by a group of feral cats. Seems they like to climb on things in the night. We where down to our last 2 days till the event to get it all done. Beaches management was great and supplied us with whatever we needed, which was a canopy, and a few extra helpers. We completed the logo an hour before the event, which had about 200 people in attendance. But all turned out great.. and here we are in this picture, cleaned up pretty good.
