Scotty Dodson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is an award-winning professional sand sculptor and live performance artist who transforms ordinary sand into towering medieval castles, intricate cityscapes, and breathtaking large-scale works of art.
With more than 35 years of sculpting experience, Scotty’s passion began as a child building sandcastles on the beaches of Long Island, New York. What started as a simple love for shaping sand has grown into an international career creating dramatic, architectural sculptures that captivate audiences around the world.
Working under his brand SandcastlesInParadise.com, Scotty specializes in massive, highly detailed creations inspired by medieval architecture, old-world European design, and fantasy storytelling. His signature style blends classic castle structures with flowing organic textures, often turning a simple pile of sand into entire “cities in the sand.”
Scotty has created sculptures and performed live demonstrations for major clients including American Airlines, Beck’s Beer, Stoli Vodka, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Beaches & Sandals Resorts, and has appeared at festivals and events throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
Known for sculpting live in front of crowds, Scotty brings an engaging, theatrical energy to every project — showing audiences how imagination, craftsmanship, and a little sand can become something truly unforgettable.
